Today is New Zealand Poetry Day!

And although the opening for The Cultural Mapping Project exhibition Sum of the Parts is still two weeks away (Saturday August 11) we are excited about the readings that will be taking place. Some of New Zealand’s best known poets Riemke Ensing, Denys Trussell (patron of The Depot’s Cultural Icons series) and Richard von Sturmer will be reading at the North Head Barracks from 1pm and later in the day Maree Scarlett (pictured above) will be reading at The Depot.

If you’re looking for something poetry related today why not call into The Depot and check out Strange Equations an installation that was made in a 24hr poetry and art challenge last weekend in honor of NZ Poetry Day. The installation features work from poet/artists Anna Forsyth, Ya-Wen Ho, Makyla Curtis, and Richard Richards.
