Two Thousand Cranes!

Thanks to Jill Greer our Vernacular Lounge is now bursting with not one, but two thousand peace cranes. Jill visited The Depot with Burtha, her combi van to deliver the peace Senbazuru (one thousand paper cranes attached on strings), complementing Ruth Coombes’ colourful Senbazuru already displayed.

The paper crane is a symbol of desire for peace and for the abolition of nuclear weapons. We are lucky enough to have over 2000 right here – a great way to celebrate Auckland becoming a Peace City and inspire our exhibition ‘Peace is Not Merely the Absence of War’.

When you’re next at The Depot add to our collection by following our step-by-step instructions to make another crane!
